Wikileaks appears to have done it again, only this time by several orders of magnitude.
Top secret War logs from the Afghanistan war have been released by the professional leak journalists at Wikileaks. Only this time they appear to have gone a slightly different direction than the last BIG leak. Wikileaks received a fair bit of criticism when the released the Apache tapes under the title ‘Collateral Murder’ on the 5th April.
Some news sources did not like how Wikileaks showed the world just how bad they were at their jobs. Needless to say these ‘reporters’ decided to attack Wikileaks editorial that was included with the leak. Wikileaks did release the full video, however the damage was done ['Collateral Murder' in Baghdad Anything But].
Well it would seem that with age comes wisdom. Wikileaks released their FULL files, all 90,000 records, to several prominent news organisations around the globe. It would seam that all is forgiven in these newsies eyes [Afghanistan war logs: how Wikileaks turned crowd-sourcing into journalism].
No longer is Wikileaks the irresponsible bunch of Internet trolls they are a credible source for a journalist. I think this is a very good thing, Wikileaks has enough troubles without having to worry about friendly fire.
I unfortunately have not been able to reach the site, whether it is a D.O.S. attack or just an overloaded server it is beyond my reach for now. That said the Guardian has a very in-depth coverage that, I suspect, will continue to grow as time goes on. It’s very brutal, but that is war. I don’t blame the soldiers I blame politicians, as it should be.
